Chief Kirk Bonsal has 30 years of law enforcement experience, which includes street patrol, detective, internal affairs, support services and investigations, where he held supervisory roles in each division. He joined our Command Staff in 2017 as Chief Deputy and is second in command of the department. Chief Bonsal assumes management responsibility over all matters relating to the fulfillment of the functions of the organization and oversees the daily management of agency operations. He is an Advanced TCOLE Instructor, Firearms Instructor, holds certification with the Public Safety Internals Affairs Institute, and is a Certified Force Analyst with the Force Science Institute. He is also recognized as a Professional Criminal Investigator from the Texas District and County Attorney’s Association. Chief Bonsal is a graduate of the FBI National Academy Session 270. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Organizational Leadership and a Master’s Degree of Science in Criminal Justice Leadership & Management from Sam Houston State University.
