Basic Ballistic Shield Operator, TCOLE: #3390, 4hrs

All Peace Officers should be taught basic shield techniques and shield training should be maintained on the same basis as all other Deputy related skills.

Training is structured to provide both hands-on and classroom. Classroom instruction covers fundamentals and individual ballistic shield skills. This class will also focus on individual/team techniques and drills, including stacking, officer-down rescues, approaches to doorways, threshold evaluation, port-and-cover window tactics, and stairway and hallway considerations. Students will be evaluated on their knowledge of the topic, instructional skills and safety considerations.
